DIY Tablescaping: Crafting a Purple and Yellow Arrangement

Hey there, tablescape lovers! I’m so excited to share the behind-the-scenes magic of creating the vibrant purple and yellow centerpiece you saw in my recent Charming Purple and Yellow Table on Bradley Acres Design. This arrangement, bursting with complementary colors, brought so much charm to the table—and now, in my latest video, I’m walking you through how I made it! 🌼💜

The Flowers That Stole the Show

I started with a dreamy mix of blooms and greenery to create this stunner:

  • Purple Anemones and Purple Limonium for that rich, royal purple pop.

  • Yellow Limonium and Yellow Roses to bring in sunny vibes.

  • Cream Roses and Cream Stock to soften the palette with a touch of elegance.

  • Vintage Jade and Eucalyptus, plus assorted greenery, for texture and that fresh, garden-picked feel.

This combo of purples and yellows, inspired by my love for complementary colors, gave the centerpiece a bold yet balanced look—perfect for the charming tablescape I had in mind.

Upcycle

For the vessel, I decided to give new life to an old compote that used to serve pasta salad at family gatherings. It had a chip, so it couldn’t hold food anymore, but I couldn’t bear to toss it. Instead, I repurposed it into a floral container—a great way to reuse those chipped pieces that still have plenty of charm! To make it work for flowers, I used the tape method, crisscrossing clear floral tape across the top to create a grid. This little trick keeps the stems in place and makes arranging a breeze, even in a wider vessel like this one.

Watch the Magic Unfold

In the video, you’ll see me arrange each stem with care, starting with the greenery to build a lush base, then layering in the purple and yellow blooms for that vibrant contrast. The cream roses and stock add a soft touch, while the eucalyptus drapes beautifully over the edges of the compote. It’s a simple process, but the result is a showstopping centerpiece that ties the whole tablescape together.

I love how this arrangement brought my table using complementary colors to life, and I hope this video inspires you to create your own floral magic—maybe even with a chipped piece you’ve been holding onto! What’s your favorite way to repurpose tableware for flowers? Let me know—I’d love to hear your ideas! 💐✨
